NEW SURVEY FEATURES

SCHOOL DESIGNATION CODES:
The School/College Designation Codes have been revised for this year’s survey. See Input Instructions for a complete list of the School/College Designation Codes. The revised codes are also listed on the SmartScreen.

RESEARCH FUNCTION CODES:
The Research Function Codes have also been revised, see Input Instructions for a complete list of the Research Function Codes. The revised codes are also listed on the SmartScreen.

CENTRAL BUSINESS UNIT vs. SCHOOL/COLLEGE POSITIONS:
This year we have added a number of positions in order to provide the ability to more readily differentiate between incumbents located in a Central Business Unit that support the entire institution, and those located in a School/College or a business unit that supports a specific School/College. Those that are located in a Central Business Unit will be designated by the letter “C” following the job code, and those supporting a School or College are designated by the letter “S” following the job code. You will still need to enter the School/College Designation Code for each incumbent, which will enable the data to be further broken out in the final results. Following is a list of the affected positions, which will also be indicated in the survey job descriptions.

The Standard Reports
Produced and delivered by Western Management Group, these reports are designed for the user who needs the total report covering all participants and all jobs.  It provides aggregate data on the total survey population.  Participants can choose to receive data from all participants or data from a predetermined participant group.

Two Standard Report versions are available.

BASIC REPORT:  Contains ALL data from ALL participants.  Your institution’s data is included in the job data totals.

COMPARISON REPORT:  Contains ALL data from ALL participants as in the Basic Report; however, your institution’s data is not included in the job data totals.  A comparison of your institution’s data to the other participants is shown.

In the Standard Reports, data is provided and displayed in three different formats:  Summary, Detail and Breakout.  The Breakout format portrays aggregate data by geographic area, institution type and institution budget size.  Output is in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, with Excel and printed versions available as additional options.

Standard Reports are distributed electronically.  You may choose either the e-mail or CD-ROM version.  This is an Adobe Acrobat PDF file, which can be viewed on any PC with Acrobat Reader version 6.0 and printed as needed.  It is not intended for uploading of data.  The convenience of the electronic PDF file means that you can easily share the survey with others within your organization, access the survey from your laptop, and forget about lost reports or missing pages.  A hard copy printed version is also available at an additional $100 for any Standard Report ordered.

Excel Spreadsheet of Survey Results:  For those who need to upload the survey results, an Excel spreadsheet version is available at an additional $200, available on a CD-ROM or via e-mail.  It contains summary information on each job, and can be loaded to common survey analysis tools for further analysis, manipulation, editing and review.  An uploadable Job Description file in Word, Excel or Adobe Acrobat is also available.
